Fans of Viva Piņata will be able to double their fun this Fall, as THQ has announced a special DS-exclusive version of the franchise for release this Fall. The new version is said to take advantage of the touchscreen and stylus, making navigation of the garden easier than ever.
"Nintendo DS is the perfect platform for the Viva Pinata franchise because players can have direct interaction with the environment and their pinatas using the stylus," said Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. "We are thrilled to introduce Microsoft's critically-acclaimed Viva Pinata series to an entirely new segment of the gaming community."
The DS version sees players inhabit an abandoned garden on Piņata Island, which leads to their task of turning it into a paradise perfect for partying piņatas. There will be seven all-new piņata species, each with new requirements, houses, and cut-scenes. The game also includes 12 full-motion video clips that serve as tutorials, featuring the stars of the 4Kids TV show, such as Hudson Horstashio, Fergy Fudgehog, and Paulie Pretztail.
The game will also include a new Playground mode to allow the creation of a lush garden in a short period of time. Plus, certain items and piņatas are only obtainable through the Nintendo DS local wireless connection, where friends can transfer new items to one another.
And thus continues the odd relationship between Microsoft, Rare, and Nintendo. You know, all you people wanting Goldeneye back would probably have a lot more luck if you begged for it to just be on the DS.
